Dr Kwan Wei Yen

Dr Kwan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from National University of Singapore in 2005. Prior to private practice, Dr Kwan served as a Dental Officer at the National Dental Centre, SingHealth Polyclinics and School Dental Service from 2005 to 2009. While he was at the Periodontics Department of the National Dental Centre, he was involved in the training of Oral Health Therapists in the Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme.

Dr Ong Hoe Boon

Dr Ong Hoe Boon has been a dentist since 1995. He graduatedwith a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1995 on the Deans List and was awarded the University Scholarships from NUS (1994/1995). He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry and a Master of Dental Science (Orthodontics) from the University of Melbourne (Australia) in 2000 and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2001.

Dr Ong is on the Roll of Specialists (Orthodontics) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He was previously Consultant Orthodontist in the Department of Preventive Dentistry and Clinical Co-ordinator of Dental Services in the National University Hospital, and served the hospital from 2001 to 2008.

Dr Ong was appointed External Examiner for the Master of Dental Science (Orthodontics) and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) theses at the Univeristy of Melbourne for the years of 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2006.

He is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore and has taught in the undergraduate and postgraduate orthodontic programmes since 2002.

Dr Seow Yian San

Dr Seow obtained her Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore in 2000 and continued to pursue a second degree in Dentistry after working for a year in the Central Business District. She graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2005.

Her undergraduate research project in the differentiation potential of mesenchymal stems cells into osteogenic lineages won the first prize at the 2006 International Dental Exhibition and Meeting (IDEM) Research Poster Competition, and second prize at the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) Faculty of Dentistry Research Day 2004.

With a keen interest in improving patients’ smiles and confidence, Dr Seow proceeded to specialize in Orthodontics at NUS and graduated with a Master of Dental Surgery (Orthodontics) and a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Her postgraduate research on the study of the level of serum bone markers in appliance-induced osteopenia was published in the European Journal of Oral Science 2013.

Her practice focuses in restoring a wide range of dental malocclusions, including conventional and aesthetics braces treatment, patients with jaw discrepancies, modification of growth and eruption for young growing children and clear aligners (Invisalign) treatment.

Dr Seow has been with the Singapore Dental Association Council for more than 15 years, and had served in few key office bearers positions in the Council. She was the chairperson for the Ethics and Practice Management Committee, as well as the editor-in-chief for the Dental Surgeon publication.

Dr Seow is the current President of the Association of Women Doctors (Singapore) and the Immediate Past President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore).

Dr Andrew Ow Tjin Chiew

Dr Andrew Ow is a MOH accredited specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS). Upon receiving his of Bachelor of Dental Surgery from The University of Adelaide, Australia in 2001, Dr Ow undertook and completed his surgical training in OMS at The University of Hong Kong from 2003 to 2009, where he was conferred both the Masters in Dental Surgery (With Distinction) and Advanced Diploma in OMS from the university.

From 2009 to 2013, Dr Ow joined the academic staff of the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he was involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate OMS training. In 2010, Dr Ow was awarded the inaugural International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) Clinical Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery, where he undertook a one-year clinical fellowship at the Shanghai 9th People’s Hospital. In 2015, under the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan, Dr Ow received fellowship training at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in the areas of Cranio-Maxillofacial Trauma, TMJ Surgery and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) Surgery.

Prior to moving into private practice, Dr Ow was Director of Service and Senior Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where he led the OMS service and provided optimal patient care in many areas of OMS including orthognathic surgery, oral-maxillofacial trauma and obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Ow was the clinical lead for the Orthognathic Surgery-Orthodontic clinical workgroup and Oro-Facial Trauma clinical workgroup and member of the TMD and Oro-Facial Pain clinical workgroup. Dr Ow was also the consulting OMS surgeon for the ENT-OMS joint clinic for OSA surgical patients, especially in the area of jaw surgery for OSA. Dr Ow has received several awards for his patient care, including the Service Ambassador Gold Award and the Service Quality Patient Experience Team Award.

Dr Ow has lectured both locally and internationally and is well-published in many peer-reviewed OMS journals. He is currently President of the College of Dental Surgeons Singapore, Academy of Medicine Singapore and a visiting Senior Consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and KK Women's and Children’s Hospital. Dr Ow was also a past member of the Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee (OMS) and examiner for the exit examination for dental specialists in OMS from 2013 to 2018.

His clinical interests are in the areas of dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, 3D virtual surgical planning for orthognathic surgery, surgery-first orthognathic surgery, facial trauma and reconstruction, surgical management of obstructive sleep apnea and oral-maxillofacial pathology.

Dr Lisa Tan

Dr Lisa Tan is a Specialist in Endodontics. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1996 and spent time as a Dental Officer at Tan Tock Seng Hospital before embarking on and achieving her postgraduate Masters in Endodontics from the Eastman Dental Hospital University College London in 1999. She spent several years thereafter as an Endodontist at the National Dental Centre Singapore before joining Ko Djeng Dental Centre in 2005 where she still practises today.

Dr Tan is accredited by the Singapore Dental Council as a Specialist in the Field of Endodontics and her work focuses on, among other areas of Dentistry, conditions related to all aspects of surgical and non-surgical Endodontics dealing with the myriad of clinical Endodontic related conditions. Dr Tan routinely carries out conventional Root Canal Treatment and Re-treatments. She has an interest in surgical microscopy and has carried out numerous surgical procedures under high magnification to deal with intractable Endodontic conditions referred to her from her Dental colleagues in Singapore and regionally.

Dr Tan is also heavily involved in Academia and contributes extensively to the education of dentists, aspiring dentists and dental auxillaries. She has delivered lectures on Endodontics to her colleagues in the Dental community and is currently also the Pre-Clinical Co-ordinator of the Endodontic program for the undergraduates at the NUS Faculty of Dentistry, where she is also a part-time tutor. Dr Tan also lectures on Endodontic subjects in the NITEC Program for students aspiring to be Dental Assistants. She also has an interest in scientific and clinical research, particularly relating to cracked teeth and microbiology and has published in International Peer-reviewed Journals. Her research is still being referenced regularly.

Dr Tan is currently a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore and is heavily involved in all areas of clinical practice and management matters in her Dental Group. She still takes time from work to actively contribute to Academia and the Dental community.

Dr Chng Hui Kneng

Dr. Chng Hui Kheng graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1996. She then attended The University of Melbourne, Australia where she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry and Master of Dental Science (Endodontics) in 2000. Dr. Chng is on the Roll of Specialists (Endodontics) (2004), and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr. Chng was previously an Assistant Professor with the Department of Restorative Dentistry, National University of Singapore (2001-2005) and has taught in both the undergraduate and the post-graduate Endodontic Residency Programme. Her research interest in Endodontics and dental hard tissues has resulted in 2 patents being filed, in addition to the numerous scientific papers and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Chng continued to serve the National University of Singapore from 2011-2014 as adjunct senior lecturer.

Dr Chng has also given lectures, presentations and conducted hands-on courses on Endodontics at many professional conferences at both the domestic and international level, including U.S.A. and Australia

Dr. Chng is a member of the Singapore Dental Association, and Society of Endodontists, Singapore. As Chairperson of a subcommittee within the Society of Endodontists, Singapore, Dr. Chng first authored a set of guidelines on root canal treatment in Singapore and this was adopted by the society and published in a report in the Singapore Dental Journal in Dec 2004.

Dr. Chng has been in private practice since 2006.

Dr Jonathan Phua

Dr Phua graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2012. He obtained his Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontology in 2017 and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2017. Dr Phua is on the Roll of Specialists (Periodontics).

Prior to private practice, Dr Phua served at the National Dental Centre (NDCS) from 2013-2020. While at NDCS, Dr Phua taught the Oral Health Therapists in Nanyang Polytechnic’s Diploma in Dental Hygiene & Therapy programme. He was responsible in managing the duties and educational activities of the dental officers. Dr Phua played a key role in spearheading implant related educational activities for clinicians in NDCS’ Oral and Craniofacial Implant Programme. Dr Phua is currently a part-time tutor with the National University of Singapore, and teaches the postgraduate periodontology residents.

Dr Phua regularly attends international scientific conferences to keep himself abreast of various treatment modalities, and has presented posters at the European Association of Osseointegration (Madrid, 2015), Europerio9 (Amsterdam, 2018) & American Academy of Periodontology (Chicago, 2019).

He maintains active membership with the European Association of Osseointegration and International Team for Implantology. Dr Phua is currently the Vice President of the Society of Periodontology Singapore.

Dr Phua believes in serving those who have limited access to care. When possible, he makes trips to serve the underserved communities overseas.

Dr Phua has special interests in periodontal regeneration, periodontal-plastic surgery and dental implants.

Dr Loh Poey Ling

Dr Loh Poey Ling is a prosthodontist in private practice. She continues to be active in teaching at the undergraduate and post graduate programmes after leaving her full time teaching position at the National University of Singapore. She holds the positions of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, National University of Singapore and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor, Postgraduate Dental Education Unit, Warwick University, UK.

Dr Loh obtained her Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1984. She joined the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS as a teaching staff later and was awarded the NUS-Overseas Scholarship to pursue her speciality training at Indiana University, USA. She was an outstanding graduate student and was awarded the Teledyne Hanau Prosthodontics Award and the John F Johnston Society Scholarship Award in 1990 during her course. In 1991, she completed the training and obtained the Master of Science in Dentistry degree and the Certificate in Prosthodontics.

Upon returning home she resumed her teaching and clinical career at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, National University of Singapore where she received the Faculty of Dentistry Excellence in Teaching Award in 1993 and the National University of Singapore Outstanding University Researcher Award in 1999.

Currently she is the Chairperson for the Prosthodontic Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee, Ministry of Health. She was also a former president for the Prosthodontic Society (Singapore). Dr Loh has been very active and served on various committees.

Dr Loh has a special interest in the areas of dental implants, fixed and removable prosthodontics.

Dr Lim Sze Kheng

Dr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from National University of Singapore in 2004. During his undergraduate years, he has been placed on the Dean's List and received many awards including SDA President's Bronze Medal (2001), Wee Kheng Chiang Memorial Scholarship (2001), BDS 71 Scholarship (2003), and SEAADE Book Prize (2004).

His keen interest in prosthodontics led him to further pursue a full-time postgraduate master degree. He graduated in 2009 with a Master of Dental Surgery (Prosthodontics) and Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was also the recipient of the Prosthodontic Society Gold Medal/ Distinction (2009) (Best Student in Prosthodontic Final MDS)

Prior to private practice, Dr Lim practiced in National University Hospital (NUH) Dental Centre from 2004 to 2011. He is currently a visiting clinician at the Singapore Armed Forces, and is also involved in part-time teaching and clinical supervision at NUS Dental Undergraduate program and Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology (GDDI) program.

Dr Lim has special interests in diagnosis/treatment planning of esthetic and functional dental problems, dental implants and fixed/removable prosthodontics rehabilitation.
